[Directory String] can be any of the following :

3) be daring and leave it blank and have lots of links

(inurl:) is optional and may be omitted and in fact most be

(intitle:) can be used in place of (inurl:) and has a similar effect

2. If you'd like, add an artist's name or song name to the end of the phrase, then click the Search Button.

This tip helps you find directories filled with mp3 files by finding Apache's Index page:

You've probably seen some sites that allow you to Google their site for a certain term. This is accomplished via the "site" advanced operator. The following syntax is used for the site operator:

site:site_to_search

For example, if we wanted to search
for the term "Mobile Phone Reviews", we would use the following:

The "inurl" advanced operator is used to search for a term within
URL's. For example, searching for "inurl:binaryuniverse" searched
for all sites that have the term "binaryuniverse" in their URL.
The "intitle" is used to search for a term in the title. Thus,
"intitle:binaryuniverse" finds all pages with "binaryuniverse"
in their title.

Google keeps caches of pages. When the Google spider indexes a page,
it stores a copy of it. Thus, the cache is a copy of what the page was
like at an earlier date. To view the cache for a page, you can simply
search for the page, and then click the "cache" link underneath.
However, there is a quicker way, that involves only typing in
search terms, and not clicking. Simply type "cache:pageurl.com"
to view the cache of a page (in this case pageurl.com).

Google also allows you to search for pages of a certain filetype,
using the syntax "filetype:TYPE". Replace 'TYPE' with the file type
you want to search for. So, if you wanted to search for tutorials
on SQL that are in PDF format, you would search for the following:

Not only is Google the world's best search engine, it also happens
to be a mighty fine dictionary. To use it as a dictionary, just type
"define:TERM", and replace TERM with the word you wish to look up.

for definitions or roflmao. Fyi, roflmao means "rolling on the floor laughing my **** off".

And now, it's time for some fun -- Google whacking. Actually, after
a couple minutes, I have found Google whacking to become extremely
boring, not to mention frustrating. A google whack is a two-word query
that returns one result. You may not use quotes, and both words in
the query must be real words. And yes, it is very hard.



At this point, the basics of Google have been covered, and you should
be a moderately good Googler.

These are just a few of the things that you can search for using Google. It is an extremely powerful tool that can be used to find just about anything you could ever want on the internet. While I am not condoning pirating and filesharing, I feel that the sharing of information is absolutely essential to the survival of the internet. After all, the internet was founded on the idea of sharing information, Google just allows us to index all of that information into an easily searched archive.

Right click on desktop, create new short-cut.

Type shutdown.exe -i

Click next, type in name for your short-cut e.g. shutdown computers



Click finish.

Run the short-cut you just created. Now you can browse the network for computers to shutdown/reboot etc. or just type in the IP/Name of the computer.

You can even broadcast a message, and schedule the shutdown.

Cool for sysadmins.

NOTE: You will only be able to shut down computers that you have admin access on!

Word 2002 displays a list of the last four documents you opened in the New Document task pane. It's so easy to open your documents this way, you may find that showing the most recent four is just not enough. What if you want to see a document that's fifth or farther down in the list? You can always click the More documents link to see a longer list of recently used documents. But, if you use this feature a lot, it makes sense to show more documents in the list. You can specify a number as high as nine.


To increase the number of documents displayed on the recently used documents list:

1.On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the General tab.

2.In the Recently used file list box, specify the number of recently used files that you want to appear in the New Document task pane.

If you need to know how many words are in your document, there's a very easy way to do it in Word 2002. Instead of clicking Word Count on the Tools menu each time you want a recount, use the new the Word Count toolbar.

The Styles and Formatting task pane can provide you with formatting information about your document. To access this task pane, on the Format menu, click Styles and Formatting.


When Available formatting is selected in the Show box in this task pane, you can see the formatting used in your document, including styles you've created and default heading styles. You can also show all styles in the task pane, or define a custom view.

To make adjustments to the formatting in your Word document:

1. On the Format menu, click Reveal Formatting.

2. Select the text whose formatting you want to review. The formatting information will appear in the Reveal Formatting task pane.

3. Now, you have several formatting options:

§ To change any formatting properties, such as the font, click the hyperlinked text in the task pane, and then change any options you want in the dialog box that appears.

§ To determine the formatting source, such as whether the formatting comes from a style, select the Distinguish style source check box.

§ To show formatting marks, such as paragraph marks and tabs, select the Show all formatting marks check box.

§ To format a text selection so it matches the text that surrounds it, select the text. Point to the Selected text box, click the arrow, and then click Apply Formatting of Surrounding Text.

Sometimes a single document includes words or phrases in more than one language. Since Word uses only one dictionary at a time, the words in the second language will be marked as misspelled. There's a quick way to check these spellings too.



Right-click the text you want to check, point to Language, and then select the language you want used to check the spelling. Now that Word knows which dictionary to use, you can check the spelling of the text as you normally would.

You are probably already aware of the fact that you can add your own commonly used terms to the Word custom dictionary (for example, names and acronyms. But once you add a word to the dictionary, do you know how to remove or edit it?

To add, delete, or edit words in a custom dictionary:

1.On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling & Grammar tab.

2.Click Custom Dictionaries.




3.Select the check box next to the dictionary you want to edit.

4.Click Modify.

5.Then, do one of the following:

§ To add a word, type it in the Word box, and then click Add.

§ To delete a word, select it in the Dictionary box, and then click Delete.

To edit a word, select it in the Dictionary box, modify it, and then click Add. Delete the misspelled version.

Did you know that by using smart tags you can insert a Microsoft MapPoint® map into your Word 2002 document?



In a Word 2002 document, when you type an address, a faint dotted line, the smart tag indicator, appears under the address. When you point your mouse at the line, a Smart Tag Actions button appears. Click the Smart Tag Actions button, and then select Insert MapPoint Map.
